| Gnosis – The Doctrine of the Synthesis
From time immemorial, the search for knowledge and understanding has been the prime objective of man's hopes and efforts: the understanding of life, the meaning of death, the comprehension of oneself and the laws of the universe. The courageous seekers of wisdom who challenge the limits of their ignorance, who dare to defy the darkness of the unconscious, always discover a new reality.
The precious key that that has always unlocked the sacred sanctuary of consciousness is "Gnosis", a Greek word meaning "knowledge through experience". Gnosis is the eternal light that has always shone, still shines, and will forever shine as a guiding star. Even though the multiple paths of experience allow gnosis to express itself through diverse symbols, in art, science, religion and philosophy; beyond this illusory veil of differences and contradictions there exists a way that is one and only.
The unique way of being is Gnosis, the purest and most universal expression of love and aspiration. Gnosis is the path of self-realization through experience.
All can be discovered and verified by awakening of higher consciousness through mystical insight and meditative investigation. On the Gnostic path there is no need for blind faith and dogmatism. More than a theory, more than belief, Gnosis is mature and direct experience of our Inner Truth.
However, the conditions needed to allow this divine spark to grow and achieve its purpose are very specific and not left to chance. In the natural evolution of beings there is no automatic process allowing ultimate self-realization. During the human stage of evolution, a Voluntary Revolution of the Consciousness is needed to guarantee the accomplishment of our supernatural destiny – the only real purpose for our passage through this Earthly plane. The attributes of this divine state, freedom, joy, health, love and peace, are the legitimate right of all.
Those who sincerely follow the Gnostic path, the way to higher knowledge, soon begin to harmoniously integrate themselves in the Universal Heart and Mind, in the all-pervading force of Love which strengthens and invigorates each of it's children.
Gnosis in the Twenty First Century The Aquarian Age
Through the course of history, the divine Gnosis, emanating from the Absolute, has been transmitted to mankind by means of prophets, masters and gurus, around whom disciples built spiritual schools and esoteric circles. Gnosis is unchanging, whereas history, mankind and its institutions adapt, transform, and finally degenerate the original teachings. Gnosis, therefore, follows a cycle from clear revelation to obscure occultation.
At certain times in the phases of civilization, due to the decay of mankind, Gnosis has had to go underground; not only because mankind turned away from it, but also due to the violence and persecution perpetrated against the Followers of Light.
Finally, however, there has come a changing of the times when, in the midst of desolation the emergence of the eternal Gnosis announces the arrival of a new age. The Aquarian Age is actually a turning point in a decadent civilization, worn at the seams, and fortunately no longer capable of sustaining its tyrannical suppression of truth.
The universal gnostic principles are again sweeping the face of the Earth, bringing hope to the remaining pursuers of authentic transformation. Samael Aun Weor has at last brought forth his invaluable contribution to the eternal Gnosis in a form accessible to the humanity of our age. In a very direct, clear and practical way he has put forward a marvellous synthesis, scientifically underlining the elements of oriental mysticism (yoga, Tantra, Taoism, Sufism, Buddhism), of the esoteric sciences (alchemy, kabala, freemasonry, Rosicrucian philosophy, astrology, etc.), of mythology, of parapsychology, and art.
In the age of confusion where alternatives are offered by the thousand, those who long for genuine transformation need to base their study on universal and immortal principles; elements of change that have been proven effective in all ages, for all men and women, whatever the race or social status or faith may be.
Gnosis does not require our hope and reliance. It guarantees, in an accelerated way, proof of it's own authenticity. By a very concrete and practical discipline, based largely on action rather than on intellectual philosophy alone, the bold apprentice of Gnosis discovers by experience the effectiveness of its methods.
Samael Aun Weor, the founder of the International Gnostic Movement, has always fought against all forms of psychological dependence and master-idolatry. The aim of gnostic practice is the arousal of judgement, insight and autonomy. Without this challenging but rewarding self-reliance, no true liberation is possible.
Gnostic Practice
Gnostic teachings of transformation has always centred on a threefold axis, otherwise know as The Three Factors of the Revolution of Consciousness.
1) Psychological Dissolution
This part of gnosis implies a direct transformation of our psychological structures. Through a concentrated application of certain methods of gnostic psychology, we learn to identify and eliminate the psychological limitations of the ego. It is the ego, which impedes the process of transformation and is the cause of ignorance and suffering. We learn to discover the:
· Development of self-awareness · Understanding and comprehension of emotional and mental reactions · Self-analysis and self-investigation through meditation · Dissolution of negative psychological aggregates (defects, habits, ill will, negativity…)
2) Spiritual Birth
In accordance with the process of psychological change, trapped energies begin to circulate. If this vital force is intelligently and scientifically channelled, certain latent spiritual faculties can be awakened. These psychic abilities are absolutely necessary for a deeper and more complete cleansing of the unconscious and subconscious mind. The only worthwhile and justifiable end to which the pursuit of psychic powers can serve as a means is the thorough eradication of all egotistic and distressing mental barriers, and the liberation of our Divine Essence. As with all the aspects of birth, Spiritual Birth depends on the wise use of our creative force.
3) Loving Sacrifice for Humanity
The third factor for spiritual growth is love and care for others. Having received it is necessary to give. This is the Law of Equilibrium. This capacity for sincere love of, and devotion to humanity not only acts as a barometer, testing our own spiritual progress, but also a promise of friendly support in times of need. This unceasing flow from one to another enriches the whole community, which in turn acts as an authentic spiritual incubator, constantly evolving and creating new means for itself. Therefore, each member of the centre is encouraged to gradually explore different fields of self-expression and involvement. This allows our own individual tastes and talents to be developed for our own benefit and for that of others. This means that the Gnostic centre is a living organism whose quality of life is the responsibility of each and every one of its members; ingenuity, initiative, creativity, imagination and enthusiasm are the specific guidelines in this area of Gnostic research.
International Gnostic Association for Anthropological Studies
The various programs, which the centre offers to its affiliates, are the result of a systematic and pedagogical study of Gnosis. These programs are presented in a broad, progressive and practical approach which allows each of its members to witness in themselves a gradual regeneration of mind, body and spirit. The personalized and individually paced courses make them accessible to everyone. We cordially invite all individuals to experience the eternal Gnosis, the path towards higher consciousness.
